What is Counselling for Depression (CfD)?

Counselling for Depression is evidence-based and is a recommended intervention by the NICE Guidelines (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence)

CfD is a specialised counselling that has been developed to support people suffering with depression People with Mild to moderate depression are offered 6-10 sessions (as recommended by NICE guidelines) over a period of 8-12 weeks although more severe cases may be offered up to 20 sessions.

Counselling for depression is delivered face to face, sessions last up to 60 mins and are usually delivered for 6-10 sessions.

Who is it for?

Counselling for depression is for people who have low mood that may be connected to their unresolved emotions.

For example: being overly critical of ourselves, feeling we are worthless, and being left with unresolved feelings from difficult relationships can make us feel low and depressed.

How might it help me?

Counselling for Depression aims to help you get in touch with the feelings underlying your depression, to express these, make sense of them and develop new ways of looking at yourself and the world around you.
