What is Couples Counselling for depression?
Couple Therapy for Depression is evidenced based and is a recommended intervention by the NICE Guidelines for couples suffering with mild to moderate depression (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence)
Couple Therapy for Depression is an integrative, behaviourally-based of up to 20-session couple therapy designed to treat couples who are suffering with depression Sessions are delivered face to face in our centres weekly for 60 mins for up to 20 sessions.
Who is it for?
It is suitable for couples who are suffering with depression where there is also relationship distress
How might it help me?
Couple Therapy for Depression enables couples to understand any links between their behaviour with each other and the symptoms of depression. The aim is to help couples develop a more supportive relationship by :
- reducing damaging interactions between couples,
- building emotional openness and closeness,
- improving communication and behaviour,
- changing unhelpful cognitions and perceptions, and
- helps the couple cope with the ordinary and not-so ordinary stresses that arise in the course of everyday relating.
If you are completing a couples referral online please complete two separate referral forms selecting ‘Couples Counselling (East Lancashire only)’ on Question 12 and please write the other persons name in the box for Question 13.
