Justice & Safety Mentor Job Description

What we expect from you:

  • A willingness to learn.
  • A 6 month commitment.
  • Good use of IT equipment, administrative and organisational skills.
  • Ability to motivate women to value their skills and abilities.
  • To attend full training that we will be providing for all those who are successful.
  • Work flexibly either centre based or outreach and responsively to develop innovative ways of engaging women who are in vulnerable situations.

    The experience and support we can give you:

    • How to provide a range of interventions through group work and one to one support in order to meet her needs.
    • Actively develop a collaborative approach to support her, alongside Prison/Probation representatives using our holistic and ‘joined up’ approach of partnership and multi-agency working to meet her needs and the organisations.
    • Using a trauma-informed approach to support her, so she can sustain re-integration and independence in the community whilst reducing the likelihood of reoffending.
    • How to prepare and maintain appropriate records of support given on our systems.
    • Learn to be aware of potential safeguarding issues. Record and report concerns to internal safeguarding lead/s and Probation/Prison staff in a timely and effective way.
    • Listen and give her a voice by reporting feedback that will help to develop the effectiveness of our services.
    • To uphold the policies and ethos of Lancashire Women at all times.
    • You will develop a range a knowledge and skills that will equip you for work within the criminal justice system such as probation or police.
    • The opportunity to complete hours for uni degree.
