Employment Advisors in Talking Therapies

Available to people whose GP is in Hyndburn, Burnley, Rossendale and Pendle

The Employment Advisors in NHS Talking Therapies model provides a combination of psychological therapies and employment support for clients accessing Talking Therapies in East Lancashire with Lancashire Women.

The employment advisors work alongside the therapists to provide ‘information, advice and guidance’ support that enables people to:

  • Find employment if they are currently not in work or are volunteering/studying and want to find new opportunities for work
  • Remain in employment if they are experiencing problems at work which means they are at risk of taking sick leave or leaving employment.
  • Return to their current role if they are on sick or other leave, or find alternative work if they want a career change.

Examples of type of support that our team of EAs can provide include: support with CVs, job applications and interview preparation if you are looking for work. They can also help with the disclosure of mental health issues to an employer, identifying and asking for reasonable adjustments at work, completing return to work plans and much more.

My caseworker has been amazing in helping me prepare to return to university after I had to take a break because I was struggling with my mental health. She has helped me develop skills and routines to help me through university and get through the admin of returning.

She's walked me through setting tasks each week to break down workloads, and I'm sure I wouldn't have done everything I needed to without her. My caseworker has been a life saver these past weeks, and was always there when I needed her.
