Becoming a Parent can be hard…If you have experienced difficulties during pregnancy, birth or beyond, loss or miscarriage, or if it all feels so overwhelming….we are here to help !

Lancashire Women’s Family Wellbeing Service offers one to one emotional health and wellbeing support to families in the Blackpool and Blackburn with Darwen community who may be struggling with their mental health during the perinatal period (pregnancy up until a child is 2 years old) Working in partnership with the Borough’s Family Hubs.

This includes when a family has experienced pregnancy loss or the death of a child for example through miscarriage, stillbirth, sudden infant death syndrome, termination, abortion, or loss through foster care or adoption.

We also offer free non-judgmental and trauma-informed therapeutic groups to help with coping, as well as some informal peer support groups for you to share your experiences with others who may have had similar experiences.

Groups include:

MindFit Mums – A course designed to boost confidence and self esteem, includes tips and tools for sleep, relaxation and self-care.
Supporting you with Baby Loss – talking through your experience of loss and tools to help cope with grief.
Baby Bonding and Attachment – Sharing supportive ideas to help yon in your journey ahead, in getting to know and bonding with your baby both before they are born and beyond.
SKIES (Support, Kindness, Information, Empathy Sharing.) A tailored group especially for mums who have experienced loss through babies being removed by local authority or justice system.

What is counselling? (one to one emotional health and wellbeing support)

People choose to see a counsellor for different reasons; low mood, relationships, coping with loss, anxiety, life events, etc.

A counsellor is there to help you to uncover your own insight and understanding of your difficulties and may help by identifying some tools and strategies to help you cope.
