Gambling Prevention and Awareness
Information for the Lancashire WorkforceThis Lancashire-wide service offers non-specialist support service for women affected by gambling harm..
Research shows that women often experience gambling differently from men. Gambling can be linked to stress, trauma, loneliness, caring responsibilities, financial pressures and relationship difficulties. Many women also experience significant shame and stigma, meaning they are less likely to seek support until a crisis develops.
Our new women-only, trauma-informed service provides:
- Counselling and therapy
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Specialist casework and coaching
- Peer support groups
- Money and debt advice
- Support with gambling blocking tools and coping strategies
- Awareness building and prevention training
The service is available to women across Lancashire, whether they are experiencing harm from their own gambling or are affected by the gambling of someone close to them. We would be grateful if you could share this information with your teams, networks and anyone who may benefit from support.
