Job Title: Volunteer Counsellors (4 Positions)
Hours: Flexible, minimum commitment of approximately 4 hours per week 
Duration: Minimum 6-month commitment preferred 
Responsible to: Volunteer Coordinator 
DBS Requirement: Enhanced DBS Check Required, provided by Lancashire Women  

About the Role 
Lancashire Women is looking for friendly, reliable and enthusiastic volunteers to support the day-to-day running of our Accrington Centre. As a General Hub Volunteer, you will play an important role in creating a warm, welcoming and safe environment for the women who access our services. 

This is a varied and rewarding opportunity that offers valuable experience within the charity sector while making a genuine difference to the lives of local women. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

As a General Hub Volunteer, you may be involved in: 

• Welcoming clients and visitors to the centre. 

• Responding to walk-in enquiries and signposting women to appropriate services. 

• Completing referrals into Lancashire Women’s services and supporting women to access appropriate support. 

• Supporting staff to maintain a safe, professional and welcoming hub environment. 

• Assisting with the day-to-day running of our small charity shop. 

• Helping with fundraising activities, events and awareness campaigns. 

• Supporting the preparation of rooms and resources for groups and activities. 

• Assisting with general housekeeping tasks to ensure shared spaces remain clean, comfortable and inviting. 

• Undertaking other reasonable volunteer duties as agreed with the Volunteer Coordinator.

No previous experience is required, as full training and ongoing support will be provided. 

Training and Support:

All volunteers must complete our induction programme before commencing their role. 

The induction takes place over four weeks, with volunteers attending the centre one day per week. Training includes: 

• Introduction to Lancashire Women and our services 

• Mental Health Awareness 

• Professional Conduct and Boundaries 

• Safeguarding Procedures 

• Equality, Diversity and Inclusion 

• Trauma-Informed Practice 

• Health and Safety 

Volunteers will receive ongoing support, supervision and opportunities for further learning throughout their time with us.

• An Enhanced DBS Check is required for this role and will be arranged by Lancashire Women.
