As a Lancashire Women Volunteer we will provide you with support and training to make a difference in women’s lives within your local community. You will also learn transferable skills that will help you with your own personal journey of self-discovery and development.
Requirements
- Applicants must be over 18
- Applicants must be available to volunteer for a minimum of 4 hours per week and for at least 6 months
- If the application is successful, a 4 week (one day a week) training course must be completed starting Wednesday 25th September 2024 (every Wednesday)
- A DBS check will be required

What happens next
Stage 1 – Complete and Submit application form
Stage 2 – If we feel that Lancashire Women would be the right place for you, a member of the team will get in touch to discuss your application further.
Stage 3 – You will be asked to attend our next Volunteer Induction which will include information and interviews.
Stage 4 – Successful applicants will be invited to join the team and begin your training with us.
Stage 5 – Your volunteering journey with Lancashire Women will begin with us as a highly skilled volunteer

Hub Support - Accrington, Burnley, Blackpool

What does a HUB volunteer do?
We need kind and welcoming volunteers for our Lancashire Women hubs. You could be the first friendly face someone has seen that day, week or even month. Your warm, welcoming manner could make a real difference to someone’s day.
There are a variety of roles available as a Hub volunteer:
- Meet and greet visitors.
- Explain signpost and refer women to relevant services both internally and externally.
- Help with coffee mornings, group facilitation and other events
- Help make the centre an accessible and welcoming place by keeping the hub space clean and tidy.
- Use your creativity and flair to merchandise and display goods in our charity shop
- Serve and help our customers in our charity shop and also post items on our Vinted store.
- Support with the day to day administration
Location
We are looking for hub/groups volunteers in Burnley (Wednesday and Thursday) and Accrington and Blackpool (all days)

Expectation
- Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times in relation to electronic files, paperwork and verbal discussions.
- To work within the policies and procedures of Lancashire Women and uphold this ethos at all times.
- Undertake regular supervision and training.
- Undertake a DBS check.
Knowledge & Skills
- A professional and friendly manner
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Proficiency in Microsftd is a bonus, although not necessary
- Good interpersonal skills and empathy
- A willingness to be involved
- Ability to give at least three hours a week over a six month period
- Willingness to undertake four initial induction sessions

Employment Advisor - Accrington

What does an EAG volunteer do?
Our team work hard to give Money and Energy advice to those needing it across Lancashire.
Role description
You will help provide vital information and support to local people. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Debt advice
- Council tax debt
- Benefit advice (claiming to appealing)
- PIP help
- Rent advance
- Grant/trust applications
- Energy advice over the phone and in person
- Budgeting support
- Free Supply and fitting of energy saving measures.
- Home energy assessments including minor repairs that help save energy in turn money.
Location
This is an office-based role in one of our centres, but the role may also require you to undertake home visits with another member of the team.

Telephone Befriending Service - Accrington (Mon, Tues and/or Fri)

What does a Befriending volunteer do?
Our befriending scheme aims to provide weekly telephone wellbeing support to our service users in order to reduce isolation and offer continued support.
Role description
- You will offer a non-judgemental listening service via telephone to women who feel isolated or feel they need continual support for well-being and mental health reasons. This may be post-therapy follow-up call, a keeping-in-touch call to a service-user still on the waiting list for counselling or a call after an initial assessment.
- You will help support and navigate women through our service provision and signpost where necessary.
- You will track and monitor your calls and keep an accurate record.
Location
The Befriending Scheme is mainly offered from our Accrington centre during 10-3pm

- Confident with IT, inputting data and notes into computer systems.
- To work within the policies and procedures of Lancashire Women and uphold this ethos at all times
- Commit to a regular time and day ( at least 3 hours) for a period of 6 months or longer
- A willingness to have a DBS check.
