Looking for a way to give back and be part of something truly meaningful? As a Lancashire Women Volunteer we will provide you with support and training to make a difference in women’s lives within your local community. You will also learn transferable skills that will help you with your own personal journey of self-discovery and development.
Requirements
- Applicants must be over 18
- Applicants must be available to volunteer for a minimum of 4 hours per week and for at least 6 months
- If application is successful, there will be induction training 1 day a week, 9:30am-2:30pm for 4 weeks.
- A DBS check will be required

General Reception Volunteers - Burnley Centre
We’re looking for warm, welcoming volunteers to join our growing Burnley Centre as General Reception Volunteers. This role is all about creating a safe, friendly first point of contact for the women who visit us — whether they’re arriving for an appointment or simply dropping in for support.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Greeting people as they arrive and helping to sign them in and out and offering a friendly face and a listening ear to anyone visiting our centre
- Completing referrals for people who would like to access our services
- Providing gentle signposting to internal and external services for support that may benefit them
- General Housekeeping round the centre to help keep things running smoothly
- Working closely with a warm, supportive, team who are passionate about making a difference
What We Offer
We’ll make sure you feel confident, welcome, and supported through:
- Full role-specific training
- A 4 day induction, spread across 4 weeks (1 session per week)
- Induction sessions delivered at our Accrington Centre
To keep our service users safe, all volunteers are required to complete an Enhanced DBS check. This will be fully funded by Lancashire Women, so there is no cost to you.

We’re looking for compassionate, friendly volunteers to join our Accrington Centre as General Reception & Group Support Volunteers. In this role, you’ll help us create a warm, safe, and welcoming environment for the people who visit us — whether they’re attending an appointment, dropping in for support, joining one of our groups or another professional calling in.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Greeting women as they arrive, helping them sign in and out, and offering a friendly face and a reassuring presence to those accessing our services
- Completing referrals for women wishing to engage with our support

- Supporting the group facilitator during sessions

Charity Shop Volunteers/ Charity Shop Champions – Accrington Hub
Our Accrington Charity Shop is looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to join our team. As a Charity Shop Volunteer, you’ll play an important role in helping us raise vital funds to support women across Lancashire. This is a hands-on, rewarding role where every shift helps make a difference.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Sorting through donations to identify items suitable for sale
- Pulling outfits together to help sell them as a priced package
- Serving customers with a warm, welcoming approach
- Rotating stock to keep the shop tidy, organised, and inviting
- Supporting with arranging displays, pricing items, and general shop tasks
- Helping create a positive, friendly shopping environment for our community

Casual Window Dresser – Accrington Charity Shop & Hub
We’re looking for a creative, crafty, and imaginative volunteer to join us as a Casual Window Dresser for our Accrington charity shop and hub space. This role is perfect for someone who loves bringing ideas to life and wants to help make our centre feel welcoming and inviting from the moment people walk past.
About the Role
As our Casual Window Dresser, you’ll help us transform our shop frontage and hub windows into eye-catching‑ displays that showcase our donations, highlight our work, and help us connect with the community.
This is a flexible, low commitment role, ideal for someone who wants to contribute creatively without weekly volunteering.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Visiting the centre once a month (or occasionally more if you’d like!)
- Designing and dressing our charity shop/hub window displays
- Using donated items, props, and simple craft materials to create attractive themes
- Helping ensure the window space feels warm, inviting, and in line with seasonal or campaign themes

You’ll be supported by our friendly team and will have plenty of freedom to create displays that reflect Lancashire Women and our values. We provide:

Vinted Champion Volunteers – Accrington Centre
Do you love finding hidden gems, have a flair for online selling, and enjoy working independently? We’re looking for a Vinted Champion Volunteer to help grow our online presence and turn quality donations into vital funds that support women across Lancashire.
This role is ideal for someone who is digitally confident, organised, and has a good eye for spotting special items among our donations.
About the Role
As our Vinted Champion, you’ll take the lead in managing our Vinted account, photographing and listing items, keeping stock organised, and ensuring our online shop stays active and appealing. You’ll be based at our Accrington Centre.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Sorting through donations to choose items suitable for Vinted
- Spotting standout brands, quality pieces, or unique finds
- Photographing items clearly and attractively
- Creating accurate and engaging listings
- Keeping our Vinted page regularly updated
- Preparing sold items for postage or collection
- Organising and maintaining Vinted stock, including:
- Labelling and storing items once listed
- Keeping sold items easy to locate
- Managing the flow of incoming donations
- Helping generate vital income to support women across Lancashire
What We Offer
You’ll be welcomed into a supportive team and given the freedom to take ownership of the role. We provide:
- Training and guidance on using Vinted (if needed)

We are looking for volunteers who can attend the centre on:

To keep our online shop running smoothly, we ask that volunteers commit to at least one shift per week.

Health and Safety Volunteer Administrator – Accrington Centre
As a Health and Safety Volunteer, you will make sure that all volunteers at Accrington are aware of their Health and Safety responsibilities. You will help them understand and follow Lancashire Women’s guidelines and procedures to co-ordinate safe activities within the Centre.
In this role you will gain knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation, as well as develop your organisational, admin and communication skills.
Most importantly you will help the Centre ensure that all volunteers conduct their activities safely and that the risk assessment for their activities has been developed and assessed.
What the role involves
This role may vary depending on the needs of the Facilities Lead, but is likely to include:
- Ensuring that every volunteer in the Centre is aware of health and safety responsibilities.
- Accurately following and implementing risk assessments for the activities conducted by the volunteers for activities and services provided by LW.
- Ensuring that the volunteers meet and report on any health and safety issues that can the be added to the near miss or facilities reports on SharePoint.
- Supporting LW’s shared responsibilities for delivering services and activities that are safe, effective, and impactful.
We can support you to develop the skills you need for this role, including a full induction into all the areas within the Centre. You will also have a chance to discuss your role and any additional needs with us.

Trainee Money Support Volunteer – Accrington Centre
(Learning Pathway into Benefits & Debt Advice)
Overview of the Role
Are you passionate about helping people, keen to learn new skills, and interested in making a real difference in your community?
As a Trainee Money Support Volunteer, you’ll join our friendly and supportive Money Advice Team and begin your journey into the world of benefits, debt, budgeting, and financial wellbeing.
This role is designed for volunteers who want to gain skills, confidence, and experience, with the potential to progress towards future trainee or paid opportunities within the advice sector. You’ll learn from experienced staff, receive structured training, and follow a personalised volunteer development plan that supports you to grow at your own pace.
You’ll develop the foundations of high-quality advice work while helping women access the information and support they need to improve their financial well-being.
Volunteer Commitment
To make sure you receive consistent learning and support, we ask for:
- Accrington: up to 2 days per week ( 1 day minimum)
Tuesdays and Wednesdays (either or both) – 9:30am to 2:30pm
- Burnley: Optional development days on Thursdays and Fridays (supported learning and shadowing opportunities)
We ask for at least a 6-month commitment, with flexibility around holidays, health needs, and other responsibilities.
What You Will Learn
Throughout your placement, you will:
- Gain knowledge of Lancashire Women, our values, and how our Money Advice Service supports women across the county.
- Develop a solid understanding of benefits, debt solutions, budgeting, and energy advice.
- Build confidence working within a professional advice environment.
- Progress from observing and shadowing to supporting with low level enquiries.
- Experience what it feels like to contribute to real positive change in women’s lives.
Main Tasks (as you progress through your development plan)
Learning, Training and Shadowing
- Take part in on-the-job learning, shadowing experienced advisers, and completing self-guided training modules.
- Follow a structured Volunteer Development Plan, with full support from the team.
- Attend external training where appropriate (e.g., energy advice, budgeting support, introduction to welfare benefits).
Supporting Clients (with appropriate supervision)
- Welcome clients into the centre and help them feel comfortable.
- Provide low level information such as budgeting packs, energy-saving tips, and signposting to other Lancashire Women services.
- Support advisers during client appointments (notetaking, form finding, assisting with documents).
- Gradually build up to supporting clients independently with simple queries, once competent and confident.
Service Support
- Assist with triage by helping staff identify the right service for each client.
- Help maintain resources such as information leaflets, budgeting tools, and client packs.
- Support with simple administrative tasks such as updating records on CRM or preparing workshop materials (with training).

Marketing Volunteer – Lancashire Women – Accrington Centre
Why this role matters
Lancashire Women exists to create real, lasting change for women across the region. But change starts with stories. This volunteer role is about helping us capture and share the impact our services make – in the words, images and moments that show what’s really possible when women get the right support.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll work alongside the marketing manager to bring Lancashire Women’s work to life across our channels. This includes gathering social media content from our centres (photos, videos, and stories) and drafting posts that reflect what we do and present us professionally.
You’ll also have the opportunity to attend community events with us, representing the charity and talking to people about our work. Beyond social media, you’ll be supporting with content for our website, articles and mailings, and help out with other general marketing tasks as they arise.
What we offer
You’ll have full support from an experienced marketing manager throughout your time with us. This is a genuine opportunity to build your portfolio, develop practical skills in charity communications, and be part of a team doing meaningful work.
All volunteers are required to complete an Enhanced DBS check, which will be fully funded by Lancashire Women.
When we need support
We are currently looking for volunteers who can offer their time on either Mondays or Wednesdays with some flexibility to attend day-time events. These would be planned in advance.
