We’re delighted to celebrate the Empower Her project, which was recognised at the Lancashire Constabulary Problem Solving Awards on the 26th November.
The initiative, delivered by Elouise Briggs and Danielle James, won the Neighbourhood Police and Safer Neighbourhoods category – an incredible acknowledgment of the difference it made for young girls in Fleetwood.
Over six weeks at the Fleetwood Girls Hub, the two-hour sessions focused on navigating relationships, with peers, parents, and themselves. These sessions provided a safe, supportive space where girls could build confidence, strengthen resilience, and grow alongside one another.
Elouise reflected: “Tackling common issues and promoting pro-social engagement with young people’s services is crucial for reducing the need for intervention in the future, as is the access to the right guidance and resources to avoid harmful behaviours, poor mental health and substance misuse in adulthood. The less women we see coming through the criminal justice system with multiple complex and unmet needs, the better.”
This pilot project, funded by Morgan Sindall Construction, is a shining example how early intervention and empowerment can change lives and we’re thrilled to see its success recognised.
