Lancashire Women named New Social Enterprise of the Year and Social Enterprise of the Year 2026 at Selnet Awards 2026.

We won – twice!

Selnet Awards 2026

Lancashire Women walked away from the Selnet Social Enterprise Awards with not one, but two awards: New Social Enterprise of the Year for SHECANFIX, and the overall Social Enterprise of the Year 2026.

It’s recognition that genuinely means something to us, because both awards reflect work that started with listening to women.

What is SHECANFIX?

SHECANFIX is our female-led trades and repair service – practical repairs, energy-efficiency improvements, and home maintenance, all delivered by trained female tradespeople. It’s the first service of its kind in Lancashire.

For women who have experienced domestic abuse, trauma, or who are living in poverty and unsafe housing, many don’t feel safe having male tradespeople in their homes and it’s a barrier to getting support they urgently need.

SHECANFIX responds to this need and provides a service designed by women, for women.

Empowerment in action

Skills-sharing is woven into how SHECANFIX works. When the team comes into a woman’s home, they share their knowledge and women often learn through simply watching – how to bleed a radiator, fix a leaking tap, understand what’s going on with their boiler.  This informal approach is now becoming something more formal through a DIY training programme through SHECANFIX. This programme will provide the skills for women to be more self-sufficient at home, and for those who want it, a pathway into a career in the trades. Details of this new programme will be shared soon.

Why these awards matter

The Social Enterprise of the Year award recognises Lancashire Women’s wider commitment to building income-generating services that sustain our work and increase our impact. SHECANFIX does both: it generates revenue that helps keep Lancashire Women going, while directly creating opportunities for women to enter skilled trades and build financial independence.

We support around 6,000 women a year across Lancashire. These awards are a reminder of why we do what we do and that doing things differently, guided by the women we work with, is exactly the right approach.

Huge congratulations to all the winners and nominees on the night – it was a brilliant evening celebrating the power of social enterprise across our region. Thank you to Selnet Ltd for bringing together so many organisations committed to putting people and purpose first.
