Burnley Centre Opens Its Doors

We officially relaunched Burnley as a drop-in facility on the 16th December. Professionals, partner agencies and local stakeholders attended the relaunch yesterday evening, to hear our plans for delivering services from the new premises following a recent relocation and extensive refurbishment of the building on Hammerton Street.

Counselling services have already been running out the centre on an appointment basis and now the doors are officially open for women to drop-in, with friendly coffee mornings and workshops on offer. The centre offers the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and get support from others in a safe and welcoming space.

Guests at the official opening heard from Siobhan Collingwood, CEO of Lancashire Women, who reflected on the charity’s four decades of service and outlined ambitions for the Burnley centre.

Siobhan said: “We’re proud of what we’ve achieved in our 40 years of Lancashire Women and excited to be opening our doors again in Burnley, and saying to women, come on in, we’re here for you. We operate a one-stop shop at Lancashire Women, supporting and empower each individual woman to improve their lives.”

Head of HR & Estates, Kerry Scruton added: “We’re excited to open the doors to the new centre after months of planning and hard work from the whole team. I would like to thank everyone involved for making this happen and we look forward to supporting the women on Burnley in our new central base.”

Services available at the Burnley Centre

The Burnley centre hosts a range of specialist and support services, including:

  • NHS East Lancashire Talking Therapies – 1:1 counselling and group therapy
